The Form 2290 due date isn’t as simple as one might expect. The tax period for heavy highway vehicles extends from July 1st of one year to June 30th the following year. So, if your truck is in use by July, the last day you can file before facing penalties is August 31st. However, for new trucks or trucks that were first used in a month other than July, the Form 2290 due date will be the last day of the month following the month the vehicle was first used.
